The Confirm Function: A Small Feature with Big UX Impact

Some updates quietly improve everything and the new Confirm function in Power Fx does exactly that.

This is now available in model-driven and canvas apps, the Confirm function allows developers to present a confirmation dialog before an action proceeds.

At first glance, this may look minor, but the impact on the UX is big.

What it does

The Confirm function enables an app to ask users to confirm or cancel an action before it executes.

For example, before deleting a record:

Code snippet for a delete confirmation dialog with title, subtitle, and buttons "Delete" and "Cancel." Text warns action is irreversible.

The record is only deleted if the user explicitly selects Delete.

Why this matters?

At a technical level, Confirm prevents accidental deletions, submissions or status changes but the real value is strategic.

User experience directly influences:

  • User confidence

  • App adoption

  • Trust in automation

  • Internal advocacy

Small friction points erode trust quickly whereas small safeguards like Confim, build it steadily. When users feel safe using an app they use it more.

Adoption drives ROI

For organisations investing in low-code and automation, adoption is everything.

Enhancements like Confirm contribute to building reliable, intuitive business applications that people want to use.

That is how return on investment is realised and how advocacy spreads across departments.

As the Power Platform continues to mature, we are seeing improvements not only in capability but in usability.

For more detail on the Confirm function, Microsoft’s blog provides a clear technical breakdown. (read more here)
